Roosevelt's Legacy Brunch
Served Plenty of Inspiration
The Roosevelt University Legacy Brunch has always been a highlight of our annual Harold Washington Week. This year, the University surpassed all expectations by unveiling and dedicating its Harold Washington Hall of Honor. Located between the university's Auditorium and Wabash buildings, this space displays memorable images of its 1949 alumnus and Chicago's first African-American mayor during his time in office. The photos were captured by MHWLC board director Antonio Dickey, the City's official photographer.
The event featured four prominent Roosevelt alumni: Featured speakers, Ald. Lamont Robinson (4th) and City Treasurer Melissa Conyears-Ervin; Congressman Mike Quigley (5th), and retired Congressman Bobby Rush (1st). The Hall of Honor purposefully connects Roosevelt’s historical social justice mission with the ongoing work of the Mayor Harold Washington Legacy Committee (MHWLC). While paying tribute to Harold’s commitment to equity and social justice, Roosevelt also hopes this space will inspire future leaders among its student body.
