PANEL DISCUSSION AND DOCUMENTARY SCREENING
Presented in partnership with the Chicago Public Library, we enjoyed an inspiring program honoring Harold Washington’s enduring impact. The event began with a thought-provoking roundtable conversation featuring former Chicago Alderman and UIC professor Dick Simpson and historian Shermann “Dilla” Thomas, moderated by Devorah Crable of Know Your Power. Together, they explored the significance of civic engagement and the power of voting in shaping our communities.

Following the discussion, we were treated to a screening of the acclaimed documentary "Punch 9 for Harold Washington," which chronicled the historic election and legacy of Chicago’s first Black mayor.
