Harold Washington Elementary Students'
Black History Posters Earn a Pizza Party
As part of our ongoing engagement with students at Harold Washington Elementary, members of our education committee conducted a Black History Month poster contest that attracted 90 contestants in five classrooms. Winners emerged from the pre-school, two of the second-grade classes, and the seventh and eighth grades--a proud moment for their principal, Keyonna Payton.
To reward them, three members of our education committee, Cecilia Ice-Mays, Sherri Walker, and Pamela Wilkes, delivered a generous supply of pizzas, soft drinks, and brownies to the winning classrooms. They applauded the winners for producing such thoughtful and creative Black History Month posters and told them the MHWLC will be following them through their graduation from Harold Washington Elementary.
